The Founders
Meyrav Mor first established a kindergarten at a children’s home in Kathmandu in 1996. During this time she focused on integrating the Waldorf methodology with the cultures and traditions of Nepal to create an early childhood curriculum which is both child centered and culturally relevant. In January 2000 the orphanage contract was completed and Meyrav established Tashi Waldorf School. Meyrav developed the culturally sensitive curriculum for
the nursery, kindergarten and classes 1 through 3 at Tashi Waldorf
School. She continues to work on curriculum development for the
school.
Chandra Tamang has been working in Waldorf education for ten years and gained much of her experience and training while working at the Bal Mandir Kindergarten. Chandra received her certification as a Waldorf kindergarten teacher in 2001. In July 2005 she graduated from the 3 year Early Childhood teacher training program at Emerson College in England. Chandra returned to Nepal and re-established her kindergarten group at Tashi Waldorf School. She leads the school’s kindergarten faculty in in-house teacher training, and the school community in study group.
Lobsang Dolma joined the school in June 2002 as a teacher trainee. From 2003 until 2006 Lobsang led her first group of children through classes 1 to 3. In May 2006 Lobsang began Class 1 with her second group of children.
Eva Bhujel began at Tashi Waldorf School in 2001 as a volunteer helping in the school’s office. Within six months she became the School’s Administrator where she has excelled in keeping the school organized and running smoothly. Eva is also the children’s librarian. In May 2006 Eva became the Principal of Tashi Waldorf School.
Yam and Monita Rai are the parents of two of the school’s students, Sunita and Sushma. Yam and Monita have been the school’s caretakers since the school began in 2000. Monita is one of the school’s cooks, and Yam accompanies the children on the school bus each day. The family lives in a building on the school property.

Manju Chaudhary joined TWS in summer, 2006, as a kindergarten assistant. Manju’s son and daughter also attend TWS.
Rinzin Chomphel joined the school in May 2006 as a school assistant. Rinzin is an artist and was studying Thanka painting. He does painting with some of the special needs children, creates beautiful paintings for the school’s library and helps the teachers to create educational aids. He also helps to keep the library in order with the arrival of new books.
